As being a local Community, Municipality of Edirne decided to take action for protecting the environment. In the Edirne Municipality Council Meeting held on 4.10.2021, The Council gave permission to the Mayor of Edirne for signing the Covenantof Mayors-Europe. For the honor of European Local Democracy Week, our Mayor Mr. Recep GÜRKAN signed the Covenantof Mayors-Europe on 15.10.2021. In his declatation our Mayor expressed that: “As a local government, with the activities being held together with our community we will: 1- Decrease greenhouse gas emission in our region 2. Increase strength and prepare for the negative effects of climate change 3. Deal with the energy poverty. I sincerely congratulate all our people’s European Local Democracy Week.”
