Under the theme "Connecting, Integrating and Humanising: Cities Faced with the Challenge of Generating Community", this conference aimed to create a space for dialogue and learning, contributing to the identification of citizen participation mechanisms for building community, trends and opportunities for the decentralisation of cities and local autonomy, and the impacts of new technologies on governance and decision-making.
One of the central moments of the annual IOPD Conference was the High-Level Political Dialogue between the mayors, governors and other elected representatives of local and regional governments from around the world who attended. They shared their thoughts and experiences on how to strengthen democracy and trust in institutions, as well as the challenges that need to be overcome.
It was also a decisive moment to discuss the Córdoba Declaration, which brought together the main conclusions and commitments made by the participants of the 24th IOPD Conference.
