Save the Nature

The activity is aimed at awareness raising of citizens in the area of environmental protection. The European Union plans that by 2025, the number of plastic bags per capita per year will be reduced to 40 pieces, and the data show that in Montenegro, 170 pieces of plastic bags are currently used per capita. The Montenegrin draft Law on Waste Management, envisages the complete exclusion of plastic bags from use. In order to contribute to these goals, the municipality of Bijelo Polje will organize a distribution of free canvas bags at local farmers market. This activity will be just the beginning of raising awareness which will hopefully lead to increased use canvas bags over plastic ones. In addition, in cooperation with local environmental organizations the representatives of municipality will plant seedlings and make official the beginning of the arrangement of the place Otoka, which is planned to be a park and a recreational zone near the municipality.
