Climate Speeches in Çi?li

As Çi?li Municipality, we took our first steps for Çi?li Climate Action Plan studies by organizing the "Çi?li Climate Action Plan Round Table Meeting" consisting of 10 sessions in order to develop locally sustainable strategies against the economic, ecological and social consequences of climate change. As part of our efforts to adapt to climate change and create a greenhouse gas inventory, we recently launched the Climate Change Directorate. As the first task, the "Çi?li Climate Action Plan Steering Committee" was formed, which included professional chambers, universities and non-governmental organizations. Çi?li Climate Action Plan Round Table Meetings initiated with the contributions of our stakeholders. As this meetings; Renewable Energy, Climate Justice, Transportation Sector, Opinions and Methods, Disaster, Green Adaptation to Climate Change, Industry Transformation in the Process of Climate Change, Combating the Climate Crisis and ?zmir Climate Action titled topics discussed. The speeches in this book are compiled from the speeches at the Çi?li Climate Action Plan Round Table Meetings held online between April and July 2020. I would like to thank all the participants and our stakeholders who attended these meetings and made presentations. I would also like to express my special gratitude to Mr. Bar?? DO?RU, Ethem Can TURHAN and Selin Sayek BÖKE for allowing us to work on their speeches and publish them as texts. We will secure our urban future by developing low-carbon practices with the aim of pioneering studies on climate change. In this context, for the Çi?li Climate Action Plan which we started working on, we plan to develop strategies for reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our district and to adapt to the effects of climate change.
