Round Table On "Opportunities and Challenges for the Formation of Energy Cooperatives in the Republic of Serbia."

15 octobre 2021
As part of the European Week of Democracy the City of Niš will organize a round table entitled "Opportunities and Challenges for the Formation of Energy Cooperatives in the Republic of Serbia." It will bring together over 30 representatives of decision makers, the professional public, faculties, public companies, the business sector, civil society organizations (housing community managers). Energy cooperatives are associations of individuals who voluntarily invest their own resources to organize energy production from local renewable sources. The round table will focus on investments in sustainable energy use projects, the involvement of the local community in energy-related projects, which would have the ultimate goal of producing energy that is in the hands of citizens. Through such an approach, it is possible to provide a market-sustainable system based on renewable energy sources, and in this way energy can be placed at the service of citizens and other economic activities. By acting through energy cooperatives, the local community can achieve multiple benefits that are reflected in three dimensions: environmental, social and economic.
