Hackathon – Advanced Technologies in the Service of Ecology and Public Space Developing

City of Niš Office for Local Economic Development in cooperation with Niš Science and Technology Park and Serbian Chamber of Commerce and within the Future Cities of Southeast Europe Project with the support of EIT Climate KIC 2021 organizes HACKATHON: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES IN THE SERVICE OF ECOLOGY AND PUBLIC SPACE DEVELOPING– SUSTAINABLE, FUNCTIONAL, GOOD NEIGHBOURLY on December 17 and 18, 2021. The goal of the hackathon is to use advanced technologies to prototype new options for a better life of citizens, devising solutions for urban pockets – public spaces, green areas between the blocks of the residential buildings in the city neighbourhoods, whose location will be announced on the day of the hackathon, using green infrastructure solutions, increasing carbon sequestration in parks, climate smart afforestation and Internet technology (IoT). The hackathon will be held in a hybrid format (live and online via the Zoom platform), for 24 hours. The invitation for hackathon participation is intended for associations, schools, faculties, organizations, informal groups, activists, in teams of three to five, who will actively work on solving challenges and meeting the needs identified and defined in working with the local community, professional community and decision makers. Neglected, unmaintained and undeveloped green areas between the blocks of the residential buildings in the city neighborhoods have been identified as the biggest challenges of the subject area and the needs of the community are recognized as a safe, secure, accessible, healthy, sustainable, beautiful and relaxing environment that should serve as a green oasis. The first three best teams will receive valuable monetary prizes. The first –prize winning team will also get the opportunity to further develop its idea within and under the full support of Niš Science Technology Park. The deadline for the application of teams is December 10, 2021.
